This announcement has the objective to spread an interesting proposal of a contest for every design student around the world. Since some years ago, rotational molding has been utilized by almost every company to produce plastic tanks for water storage, septic tanks, and more complex applications like road barriers, containers among others.

Few companies have used rotational molding as a tool for producing durable products for domestic uses and also few designers have dedicated some time to create ideas using this manufacturing process.

Important examples of what can be achieved are the Voido chair from Ron Arad or Bubble Club from Philippe Starck; both managed to merge in an  adequate way design with process, obtaining pieces of great aesthetic and functional values thanks to the process possibilities.

The main objective of Spin & Design is to motivate future and present designers to develop rotational molded products, getting out of the actual scheme of tanks, and proposing high aesthetic products that can boost in the near future the process as a new innovative tool for industrial design.

The contest will have its subscriptions open until October the 15^th, time in which all undergraduate students will have the opportunity to sign up without paying any fee.

The deadline for proposal submissions is November the 30^th and the winners will be announced the 15^th of December.

For those who are chosen as the contest winners, Rotoplast S.A. (the company that will sponsor the event) will give 1500 USD to the First place, 800 USD to the second place and 500 USD to the third place. But the prizes won’t end there, each design will be in the database of the company and if a design is selected and produced, the designer will receive royalties of the 2% for each sold piece during the first five years and his name will be printed in each produced piece.
