Jon Winebrenner, a member (IP Wirelessly) of our forums and moderator at Core77, tipped us about a DVD he has been working on for a while. He has always been inspired by watching other Designer’s work, but he has the patience of a 3-year old when it comes to sitting and watching “how-to” videos.  He has a pile of Design Books collecting dust because he looks through them once or twice, but he doesn’t get to “see” how they do it so they get forgotten about quickly.

Jon has gathered several designers from our forums and Core77 to produce a slightly different take on a Design Sketching education DVD, called 'the.brief.dvd'.

In 'the.brief.dvd' four professional Industrial Designers were given the same Design Brief asking them to design a single cup coffee maker. All four Designers were videotaped as they worked, showing how they come up with their ideas and begin to realize them as a final product. The four Designers are: Michael DiTullo, Spencer Nugent, William Vespa, and Benjamin Lloyd.

'the.brief.dvd' is not your typical “how-to” DVD.  All four Designer’s work has been sped up and then put to cool unique music by the band “Lips and Ribs”.  'the.brief.dvd' isn’t trying to “sit down and show you how to design”.  'the.brief.dvd has been created to teach, inspire, and provide a unique way of understanding how professional Designers work.

the.brief.dvd is a glimpse into the mind of four Designers and an observation of the skill required to visualize a product.

Well, to me it seems that 'the.brief.dvd' is definitely something worthy to look forward to. I can't wait to get a copy and write a review about it here.
